Description:

AHorseradish is native to southeastern Europe and is cultivated for its pungent root. The plant is a member of the mustard family.

Properties:

Horseradish is diuretic, antiseptic, a stimulant of blood flow, a clearer of nasal passages, and has a warming effect.

Healing Properties:

The oils found in the root have antibiotic properties that aid in healing.

Ailment Treated:

Horseradish is used to treat sinus congestion, urinary infections, respiratory infections, and sore throats. It is also a powerful diuretic.

Side Effects:

Vomiting, sweating, upset stomach, and gastrointestinal irritation.

Contraindications:

Keep the root away from the eyes, nose, and mucous membranes.

Do NOT use if:

Pregnant women should avoid this herb. Also, do not give horseradish to people with kidney disease, ulcers, or hypothyroidism. Do not use for more than seven days.

History:

The root is most known for its ability to clear nasal and sinus congestion. It has been used in folk medicine for centuries.
